At Rach-Al-Paca Farm, we believe that fiber animals can be self-sustaining. We raise alpacas and Shetland sheep, process their fleeces into yarn and rugs, and use the proceeds to buy food for the critters. We will have yarns, roving, rugs and clothing made from our animals, spun here in our mill, available for purchase. Come meet the animals and tour our mill to see how it all happens! The North Star Farm Tour is a self-guided tour of eight Twin Cities-regional fiber farms, connecting people to farmers who produce local, natural fibers.
The 2017 Tour takes place Saturday, September 30, and Sunday, October 1, from 10 am to 5pm. Please contact individual farms if you have questions about their sites or products available, or visit the North Star Farm Tour facebook page for updates and additional tour information.

Our learning center is located atop a bluff near Stockholm, Wisconsin, on a historic Swedish farmstead. Our passion is to help students identify what brings them joy and provide opportunities that inspire them to create for life. Classes are offered in a multipurpose workshop, fiber arts studio, horse arena and new log cabin. Check out the special wool we have available, from Shetland, Border Leister, Corriedale, Romney and Merino sheep, plus English Angora available for purchase. Running Dog Ranch we will have a spinning and weaving demonstration as well as lots of fine/tightly crimped white, brown and black wool for sale.

Clear Spring Farm is home to Royal and Trim Tibetan Yak. Our yak herd is very friendly and photogenic, so feel free to take pictures of these unique and beautiful creatures. The Berryhill Farm is committed to raising English Leicester Longwools, a heritage breed on the critical list, for both its lustrous fiber and its quality carcass (currently available at The Rainbow Cafe in downtown Pine Island). We will be offering light refreshments (including samples of lamb at noon), fiber products from the farm (yarn, raw fleeces, rolags, roving, etc.), a self guided tour map, and demonstrations.

Black Cat Farmstead raises Icelandic, Shetland and Gotland cross sheep. We grow flax and hand process it for
linen. The fiber studio and store, in a nineteenth-century house, has farm-raised wool (both primitive-style raw fleeces and processed fiber is available), flax, handspun yarns, antique wheels and other textile tools for sale. Credit cards accepted. Demonstrations of spinning, flax dressing, and weaving. Special Guest: Master Dyer Lisa Hainsworth of Three Sisters Fiber Co. will have alpaca and angora products available on Saturday (and an angora bunny you can meet)!
